What is Live Streaming?

Live streaming is the real-time upload of filmed content

When a loved one passes, it can easily feel like a very difficult time, and making funeral arrangements can be daunting, especially for those who live far away.

Nowadays, many of us have family members and friends spread around the world. This can make attending a funeral service in person challenging, especially at short notice. Live streaming a funeral service means that family members and friends who are unable to attend in person can still pay their respects from anywhere in the world. Live streaming has also been increasingly popular since the pandemic as it means that large gatherings are not essential. While not perfect, live streaming can bridge a gap that, at this difficult time, is unable to be filled physically. Nothing can truly take the place of the comfort that comes from physical contact with those who share and understand your loss, but by utilising new media technologies, we can continue to show our support for each other and say goodbye collectively.

An additional benefit to live online streaming is that the service can be recorded at the same time. This means that if people are unavailable to watch at the time of the service, or if they have a poor internet connection, they can watch after the ceremony. The broadcast recordings and memorial page will be held online for 6 months, which means they can be viewed for 6 months after the service.

What is included with a live stream from FWH Live?

A memorial page with details and photo of the deceased, date and time of the service, a prayer or poem (decided by the family), a guest book and a player to watch the stream.

An edited video of the service uploaded to the memorial page to watch or download later. (The memorial page will displayed online for 3-6 months before removal.)

A high definition copy of the service on USB stick.

FWH live will consider any reasonable requests made by the family for specific content to be added to the page.

Can anybody watch a live stream?

At FWH Live our funeral streams are made available for everyone to watch, however if you would prefer your stream to be kept private simply request we add a password to your page to restrict access. Details are then shared only with invited guests to ensure that your loved one’s service remains as private as you want it to be.

How do I watch a live stream funeral service?

A link to take you directly to the stream page will be supplied prior to the date of the service, or you may simply return to this page and select the town and name of your loved one from the menu above. A test stream will begin 5-10 minutes before the service to give you time to access the live video. Make sure you have good internet signal, and confirm this ahead of the funeral service, so that you can be fully present and avoid technical glitches on the day. If using your mobile phone, make sure your battery is fully charged.

How do I arrange live streaming?

The first thing to do is speak to your Funeral Director. They will arrange a live stream to save you the stress during this overwhelming time.
