Dear Norman and family
I was shocked to see the sad news about Margaret's death. I am so sorry and send my love and condolences to you and your family. Margaret will be missed hugely by you all. It was so gracious of you both to accommodate me on the day you were moving out of your Auckland home and I remember very much the lunch we shared with the Rigby's.

Margaret, I always enjoyed our talks at church about life, my work, your previous work and our singing group. Always fun with you and Norman! Thank you for the fossils you donated. Our Head of Science was so excited when I handed her the box. I told her about you and your work in science and your travels. You are an inspiration. Thank you for the love, care and support you showed me. Dearest Norman and family, may God’s love continue to surround you all in this time.

A fond memory of Margaret is when we had choir practice ,it sometimes felt that she was always telling Norman off to get it(the tune, the tempo or expressions) right.
Margaret did so much for our church,(Wesley Methodist Papatoetoe),the endless hours she gave, even when she was unwell.
Especially with regards to property matters such as our new kitchen, construction of the new parsonage...

I remember Margaret’s smile. I was visiting Lisburn, Northern Ireland, with an aunt and walking into a mall Margaret was coming toward me so unexpectedly and we greeted each other and Margaret joined us for afternoon tea and a catch up…

Although distance meant I didn’t see Aunty Margaret often, I always treasured our conversations. She was wonderfully articulate and wise and I had enormous admiration for all she achieved, particularly studying science at a time when few women followed that path! She was a trailblazer in her own quiet way and someone I found genuinely inspiring. I’ll remember her always with great love and admiration xx
